Somatic Psychotherapy

Soma means “body”. Our body is made up of cells. The cell is the primal body, the first unit of life. There’s a lot we can learn from it. For example, cells have a cellular membrane that controls what enters and exits the cell like a gatekeeper that lets in what it needs and keeps out what it doesn’t. The membrane is made up of two walls that can sense what’s happening inside and outside the cell and selectively transport certain molecules that the cell needs. We can learn a lot about healthy boundaries from the way our cells work. Our body is full of wisdom, and I inform my practice with the insights that studying the body provides. I offer therapy that has somatic lenses, which simply means focusing on the body and its relations to the mind and psyche. That’s why I chose the word Soma for my practice.

Let’s connect

In the most difficult life situations, you may find yourself lonely, even when surrounded by friends, partners and family. Sometimes we can’t find the words to explain how we feel. Our problems can be so old that we don’t know where to even start to unravel the tangle. All the things we face may feel connected and have one common root. Or, they can feel scattered. You may feel like you are the problem.. Or it can be a familial, generational, societal or systemic issue. Most likely, it is complex and not one-sided…
Please know, you don’t have to face your struggles alone. You matter. And I stretch my hand to you. In the darkest moments of my life, I was lucky to find support, and I consider it a privilege to hold you in yours. With the right support, we find that things in life feel easier. When we are saturated with support, we feel elated, vibrant, and full of energy and ideas. I wish for you to feel vitality in all aspects of your life… and be in harmony with yourself and the world. You deserve a life that feels uniquely yours, full of opportunities and meaning.
